Celebrating the Life and Legacy of
Dr. Martin, Luther, King, Jr.
To commemorate the holiday celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., St. Mary’s Episcopal Church hosted a remarkable celebration on Sunday, January 14, 2024. The event welcomed numerous dignitaries who delivered speeches focusing on Dr. King’s Vision of Economic Justice for All.
The celebration garnered high praises, with one attendee describing it as stupendous. The evening unfolded as a magnificent blend of impactful speeches and captivating musical performances. House Democratic Leader, Hakeem Jeffries, served as the keynote speaker, delivering a heartfelt address. His speech was preceded by eloquent remarks from distinguished guests, including The Honorable Letitia James, The Honorable Kimberly Council, The Honorable Crystal Hudson, The Honorable Nydia Velazquez, and The Honorable Eric Gonzalez.
The musical segment featured outstanding performances by baritone Ricky Brackett, vocalist Courtney Long, accompanied by Asher Denberg, and the impressive choruses—The Brooklyn Contemporary Chorus and The Young People’s Chorus of New York City. The entire event was a testament to the enduring impact of Dr. King's legacy, leaving attendees inspired and moved by the powerful messages conveyed through words and music.
